The Grammys might keep its put as the most prestigious evening in music and the MTV VMAs might be labeled as the wildest evening in songs, but Sunday night’s red carpet was plain evidence that the American Tunes Awards are the most fashionable and star-studded evening in new music.
The 2019 AMAs drew major superstars which include Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, Lizzo, Shawn Mendes, Kesha, Camila Cabello, Dua Lipa, the Jonas Brothers, Shania Twain, Christina Aguilera, Billie Eilish, and Ciara—to identify just a handful of. And everyone brought their style A-video game, opting for monochromatic attire (see Selena’s lime inexperienced Versace mini), showstopping components (we’re searching at you, Lizzo’s teeny-very small Valentino purse), and lots of sparkles. And one of 2019’s major traits, outsized silhouettes, experienced its spot on the purple carpet with Halsey in a ruffly floral robe featuring an exaggerated teach and Ciara in a saggy midnight blue pantsuit. If this is any sign of the purple carpets to come for the duration of the rapidly-approaching 2020 awards time, we are in for a treat.
